Ingredients
- 1 1in thick (2.5cm) ribeye steak
- Kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper (medium grind)
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) vegetable oil
Instructions
- Get your thickest frying pan (preferably a cast-iron skillet) hot on the stovetop on medium-high heat.
- Add vegetable oil and wait for the oil start to look shiny and ripple.
- Season the steak genorously on both sides with salt and pepper.
- Once the oil is hot add the steak.
- Set a timer for two minutes and let the steak cook without touching it.
- Flip the steak and cook another two minutes, again - no touching.
- Cook another two minutes per side for a total cook time of 8 minutes. The steak will be cooked about medium at this point.
- Remove the steak, cover in tin foil and let rest for at least 5 minutes before serving.
