Equipment

Ingredients

  • 50g freshly ground coffee (Medium grind. Setting 12 on the grinder listed above. If you don't own a grinder, get your local coffee shop to grind some for you.)
  • 700g water (1:14 ratio of coffee to water)

Directions

  1. Bring water to a full boil in the kettle.
  2. Rinse a Chemex coffee filter under warm water to get the paper taste out of it.
  3. Open a single flap of the folded filter so it looks like a cone and place it in the chemex.
  4. Align the thick side of the filter with the groove in the glass.
  5. Add the grinds to the coffeemaker.
  6. Place the coffeemaker on the scale and tare it to 0g.
  7. Pour 100g of hot water onto the grinds to get them fully submerged.
  8. Wait 1 minute for the grinds to soak.
  9. Pour another 600 grams of hot water onto the grounds in stages until the scale reaches 700g total weight. Make sure to get all the grinds evenly soaked.
  10. Wait until all the water has filtered through the grinds. Total brew time should be around 3-4 minutes.
