Equipment
Ingredients
- 50g freshly ground coffee (Medium grind. Setting 12 on the grinder listed above. If you don't own a grinder, get your local coffee shop to grind some for you.)
- 700g water (1:14 ratio of coffee to water)
Directions
- Bring water to a full boil in the kettle.
- Rinse a Chemex coffee filter under warm water to get the paper taste out of it.
- Open a single flap of the folded filter so it looks like a cone and place it in the chemex.
- Align the thick side of the filter with the groove in the glass.
- Add the grinds to the coffeemaker.
- Place the coffeemaker on the scale and tare it to 0g.
- Pour 100g of hot water onto the grinds to get them fully submerged.
- Wait 1 minute for the grinds to soak.
- Pour another 600 grams of hot water onto the grounds in stages until the scale reaches 700g total weight. Make sure to get all the grinds evenly soaked.
- Wait until all the water has filtered through the grinds. Total brew time should be around 3-4 minutes.
