Ingredients
- 3/4 cup (175ml) shortening
- 1 cup (240ml) sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup (60ml) molasses
- 2 cups (280ml) flour
- 3/4 teaspoon (3.5ml) ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons (10ml) baking soda
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) salt
- Sugar (for rolling cookie balls in)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), pour sugar into a bowl and set aside.
- Grease cookie sheets and set aside.
- Cream shortening and sugar into light and fluffy.
- Add egg and molasses and mix well.
- Add sifted dry ingredients.
- Roll dough into balls and roll in sugar before placing on cookie sheets.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes.
- Cool on cookie sheets for 2 minutes before moving to wire racks to finish cooling.
